Oliver Laughland is the Guardian's US southern bureau chief based in New Orleans. He leads enterprise coverage of the US south and presents the Guardian's acclaimed politics series "Anywhere But Washington".
His reporting has won major awards in the US, UK and Australia, including a Scripps Howard award, three Edward R. Murrow awards, and two Amnesty International human rights reporting awards. He was a finalist for an Emmy, a Peabody award and the Goldsmith prize for investigative reporting.
He was profiled in the HBO documentary film 'Endangered', which examined press freedom threats in the US, Brazil and Mexico.
